Posts
Posts from a data source, such as SharePoint news or the intranet, with image, teaser and a code to the full post.
From your organization the app reads: data-sources. The app calls no outside service.
This app needs no separate consent.

- For
- anyone who wants to show news from the intranet or a website on a display
- Prerequisite
- the installed app, the right to edit scenes, and a source with posts under Data sources. For SharePoint, an Owner connects Microsoft 365 first. For posts from X, you also need the booked app Posts from X.
- Where in the portal
- Apps › Discover apps › Posts. The widget is in the scene editor under News & info. You create the source under Data sources.
On this page
The Posts app shows news from a source: the SharePoint news of your intranet, the blog of your website, any other feed, or the latest posts of an account on X. One post stands after the other, with image, headline, and teaser.
What the app shows
The app comes with one widget: Posts. It shows the posts of a source of your organization. The app fetches nothing itself. Szenera fetches the source once and distributes the state to all displays, see Where do your apps get their data?. The widget knows neither provider nor access. In the Data & access tab, the store therefore says under Reads existing data: “Data sources you choose for the app”. Without a network, the last state stays in place.
One post stands at a time in a steady rhythm: the image on the left, the headline in large type, below it the teaser, plus author and age and a QR code to the full post. The code appears only where the source provides a link. As a List, the widget shows several headlines with a small image one below the other and turns its pages. The source stands at every post as text, and an image carries its credit.
The widget arranges itself to fit its frame. Making it wider never removes anything.
- Post: in wide frames the image on the left over the full height, on the right source, headline, and teaser, at the bottom author, age, and the code.
- Portrait and Tile: in tall and square frames the image on top, below it the same one below the other.
- Bar: in flat bands one line with source and headline, which runs as a ticker if it is too long.
- List: several headlines with a small image. The list turns its pages, and in a flat frame it runs as a ticker.
If not everything fits the frame, the code drops out first, then the teaser, then lines of the headline, and last author, age, and progress. Source and headline stay. The settings window reports under the preview what is switched on but does not fit.
Two examples: A club shows the Post template in its foyer with the news of its website. An administration hangs the List with the notices from the SharePoint intranet in its break room.
Set up the source
The posts live in a source. You create it once, and after that every widget chooses it from the list.
- Under Data sources, use Create source to create a source of the form Posts: SharePoint news for the news of a site in Microsoft 365, or News feed with Own feed for any feed whose address you have.
- Place the Posts widget in a scene in the scene editor.
- In the Data tab of the settings window, choose your source under Source. If it is missing from the list, Create source below the field leads to the Data sources page.
For the posts of an account on X, create the kind Posts on X instead. It needs the booked app Posts from X. The steps in detail are in Create a data source and show it in a widget. Which connection SharePoint needs is described in Connect Microsoft 365, Google, or Grafana.
Settings
Open the settings with the gear icon on the toolbar above the widget. They are on the tabs Content, Appearance, Data, and Playback. The toolbar also offers Template and Colors, plus the Background. The editor hides fields that have no effect in the chosen view, and their value is kept.

Limits
- Read-only. The app shows posts, it does not create or change any. It writes nothing in SharePoint or on your website either.
- No sign-in on the display. The app knows neither access nor key. The source and its connection stay with us.
- At most 12 posts one after the other, and none older than 90 days.
- Fetched at the interval of the source. A new post appears after the next fetch. The presets are every 15 min for SharePoint news, every 5 min for a news feed, and hourly for posts on X. You set the interval at the source.
- Images load at the display. The display loads only the images of the posts through their address. If an image is missing or does not load, its place shows a calm gradient.
- Posts from X stand like news. The text of the post is the headline, and there is no teaser. The code leads to the post on X.
- The code needs a link. It appears only where the source provides a link to the post, and only with Single.
- The source stays credited. It stands at every post as text and cannot be hidden.
- Without posts, the area stays calm. At most “No posts right now” appears on the display. Why nothing runs is told only by the editor.
If something goes wrong
| Symptom | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| In the editor: No source chosen yet, The chosen source is gone, or The chosen source does not provide posts | No source is chosen, the source was deleted under Data sources, or it has a different form, such as a table. On the display, the area stays empty. | Choose a data source with posts under Source, or create one with Create source. |
| In the editor: The connection to the source needs to sign in again | The provider rejected the sign-in. | Renew the sign-in under Data sources. |
| In the editor: The source is paused | Someone paused the source. | Start it again under Data sources with Resume. |
| In the editor: The source has not been fetched yet or The source cannot be reached right now | The first fetch is still to come, or the latest fetches failed. | Wait a moment, or click Fetch now under Source. The displays show the last state. If it persists, check the source under Data sources. |
| In the editor: No post matches your choice | Maximum age or Only posts with an image leaves nothing. | Raise Maximum age or switch off Only posts with an image. |
| In the editor: The source has no posts right now | The source is reachable but holds nothing. | Nothing. New posts appear after the next fetch. |
| The QR code or the teaser is missing. | The switch is off, the view is List, the source provides no link, or the frame is too small. | Check the switch and the view and make the frame larger. |
| The widget cannot be inserted. | The app is not installed, an update is waiting for your decision, or it shows Not in your package. | Check the status under Apps (When an app does not run). |
