When an app doesn’t work

A widget can't be placed, stays empty, or an app shows a status.

anyone who installs, uses, or looks after apps. Many solutions need the Owner.
Prerequisite
access to Apps
Where in the portal
Apps › My apps › Needs attention
On this page

Most app problems come from three things: an update waits for a decision, your package no longer includes the app, or its setup isn't finished. The Needs attention filter in My apps shows every app where something is open.

A widget can't be placed, or a scene doesn't play

Symptom Cause Solution
The app's tile in the scene editor shows Update waiting An update waits for a decision. Scenes that use the app keep running. Click the tile and decide, see When an app update is waiting for your decision.
The app shows Not in your package Your package no longer includes the app, or its booking ended. Settings and data stay. Click View packages. A larger package or a new booking unlocks it at once.
A scene shows Blocked The scene uses an app your package doesn't include. It drops out of programs and playlists. Click Remove app from scene and publish, or change your package.
A widget shows no data The app's setup isn't finished, such as a missing location or menu. For Posts, Table, Reviews, Dashboard, and Warning, a data source is missing or delivers nothing. Complete the open steps under Setup on the app's Overview tab, see Look after installed apps. You check a data source under Data sources, see Data sources: options, intervals, and states.
An app content in the library shows App not installed The app was uninstalled. The content stays, and the display skips it. Install the app again, see Install or book an app. The content then runs again by itself.
An app content in the library shows Widget not available The app no longer knows this widget. Create a new app content from the app's current widgets, see Create, configure, and maintain app contents.
Not everything runs on this display The app doesn't support the device type of this display. Check Runs on in the app's listing, and assign this display content without the app.
The palette says No apps installed No app with widgets is installed. Click Discover apps, see Find the right app.

Installing doesn't work

Symptom Cause Solution
Ask the owners to install instead of Install Only the Owner may install. Send the request, see Install or book an app.
“This app is only included from a larger package.” Your package doesn't include the app. Click View packages.
“This app is paid and must be booked first.” The app is an add-on. Click Book and install.
“No further apps can be installed at the moment.” No further app fits in. Uninstall an app you don't use. The Not in scenes filter finds one.
“The permissions of the app have changed. Please reload the page.” The app changed while the dialog was open. Reload the page and check the permissions again.
“We have switched the app off for the time being.” The app is paused for everyone. Settings and data stay. Wait. The app comes back with its data.

Messages on the app's page

Symptom Cause Solution
“The interface of this app could not be loaded.” The data area couldn't be opened. Reload the page. If it persists, contact us.
“This app provides no interface for this data area.” The app maintains this data itself. Nothing to do.
“Installation failed” or “Uninstall failed” The action didn't reach us. Try again. If it persists, contact us.
A button is grayed out Your role doesn't allow it. Installing, updating, and removing apps is up to the Owner. See No access, a grayed-out button, a locked area.

Problems with a single app, such as the news or the pharmacy duty, are on that app's page.
