TVs are built for living rooms. After a few hours without the remote control they switch themselves off, and many enlarge the picture so the edges disappear. A few settings on the TV fix this for good.

The TV switches off after a few hours

An energy-saving setting, a sleep timer, or an automatic power off is still on. Switch off every one of them in the TV's settings. The names differ by manufacturer, so look under power, eco, or general settings. The full list is in Set up the TV for all-day use.

After a power cut, the TV starts on a channel or its home screen

Set the TV to come back on after a power cut and to start on the HDMI input of the player. On some TVs, the setting is called last state or power-on input. If the TV still starts elsewhere, see Platforms: which devices run Szenera.

The edges of the picture are cut off

The TV enlarges the picture, which is called overscan. Set the picture size on the TV to an option without overscan, such as Just Scan.

There are black bars, or the picture is cropped

The format of your content doesn't match the TV. Check whether the TV hangs in landscape or portrait and set the Orientation on the Screen tab to match. Under If the aspect ratio differs, Show everything keeps everything visible with bars, and Fill the screen fills the TV and crops the edges. For content without bars, design it in the TV's format, see How do you design content that people can read?.

The brightness jumps back

The TV was without power and fell back to its factory value. The player sets your brightness again within about half a minute. If it stays wrong, someone changed it in the TV's menu.

The portal can't switch the TV on and off

If Turn the screen on and off is missing or the TV doesn't react, HDMI-CEC is off on the TV, or the cable or a switch in between doesn't pass it on. Switch on HDMI-CEC, which is called Anynet+, SimpLink, or Bravia Sync, for example, and connect the player directly. Switching also needs the Pro package and a player.
