Player Pro
You want two displays from one device, or video in 4K.
- For
- anyone who plans to run two displays from one device
- Prerequisite
- your package allows several displays per device, and a seat is free for the second display
- Where in the portal
- Displays › Pair display › Another screen on an existing device
On this page
The Player Pro drives two TVs or monitors from one device, each with its own content and schedule, and plays video in 4K. Use it for two displays side by side or for one display in each of two neighboring rooms.
At a glance
| Feature | Player Pro |
|---|---|
| Displays | Two TVs or monitors, each with its own content and schedule |
| Video | Up to 4K at 60 frames per second |
| Orientation | Landscape or portrait, set for each display |
| Network | Network cable or Wi-Fi |
| Warranty | 12 months |
You pay per display, not per device, so the second display takes a seat of its own.
Steps: add the second display
- Connect the second TV or monitor to the free HDMI socket of the player and select that input on the TV.
- Wait a moment. The second TV shows No display is set up for this screen yet. It shows no pairing code, because the player already belongs to your organization.
- In the portal, open Displays, click Pair display, and choose Another screen on an existing device.
- Choose the player and the free connector, enter a name if you like, and click Create display. The dialog tells you beforehand: This books one more display.
- Assign content to the new display, as with any other display.
You can also start from the device: on its Overview tab, a free connector shows Create second display.
Which settings belong to which display
| Separate for each display | Shared by both |
|---|---|
| Content, schedule, and off-air times | Network and time |
| Orientation and picture fit | System updates |
| Brightness, switching on and off | Pairing and removal of the device |
| Screenshot and Identify | Restart |
Limits
- Only one of the two displays plays video with hardware decoding. A 4K video belongs on one display. The other display still plays video, but without the reserve for 4K.
- If both displays should show one shared picture, set them up as a video wall.
If something goes wrong
| Symptom | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| The second TV shows No display is set up for this screen yet | The cable is connected, but the display doesn't exist in the portal yet. | Add it as described in the steps above. |
| Another screen on an existing device is locked | Your package doesn't allow several displays per device. | Your organization can add this to its contract under Settings › Organization › Billing. |
| The player doesn't appear in the dialog | It doesn't report a free connector yet. | Check the cable and the input on the TV and wait a few minutes. |
| Video plays smoothly on one display and stutters on the other | The hardware decoding is in use by the first display. | This is expected. Put large videos on one display. |
