Connect to the network: cable, Wi-Fi, company network, time
The player needs Wi-Fi, or it shows the setup card.
- For
- anyone who sets up a player or looks after the network at the location
- Prerequisite
- a connected player with power. For Wi-Fi, the network name and password and a smartphone.
- Where in the portal
- setup card on the TV · Devices › device › Hardware › Network
On this page
The player needs internet to get its pairing code and your content. With a network cable, it connects on its own. For Wi-Fi, you enter the network name and password once on your smartphone.
How the player chooses its network
Each time it starts, the player checks in this order:
- A network cable with internet behind it.
- A saved Wi-Fi network. The player waits up to 90 seconds for it.
- If neither works, the player opens its own setup Wi-Fi and shows the setup card on the TV.
A cable only counts if it leads to the internet. Whenever no network works, the setup card comes up, so you can always correct a wrong password.
Steps: set up Wi-Fi
The setup card and the setup page on your smartphone are currently in German. The steps name the German labels.
- Scan the QR code on the card with your smartphone. It connects the phone to the setup Wi-Fi, whose name starts with
Szenera-Setup-. You can also type the Netzwerk (network) and Passwort (password) shown on the card. - The setup page usually opens by itself. If it doesn't, open
http://192.168.42.1in the browser. - Choose your Wi-Fi from the list. If it is missing, choose Anderes Netzwerk (Name eintippen) and type its name. Erneut suchen searches again.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password and the Setup-Schlüssel (setup key) from the card. It is the same value as the password of the setup Wi-Fi and makes sure that only someone standing at the TV can set it up.
- Tap Verbinden & Display starten (connect and start the display). The player restarts, connects, and shows its pairing code.
On a company network
A player only makes outgoing connections and accepts none from the internet. Network requirements for your IT lists what your IT needs to allow. A guessed rule that blocks too much looks like a broken device.
Why the time matters
The player sets its clock over the network. If it can't, program entries switch at the wrong time, and the portal reports Clock out of sync. Allow time synchronization (NTP) in your network, and the message goes away by itself.
Check the result
The setup card is gone. At the top of the TV, you see Connected, and below it the pairing code or your content. In the portal, Devices › device › Hardware › Network shows the connection, the signal strength, and the IP address. If the Wi-Fi signal stays weak, the portal reports Weak Wi-Fi signal. Move the router closer or add a repeater.
If something goes wrong
| Symptom | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| The setup card keeps coming back | The Wi-Fi name or password is wrong. | Scan the QR code again and enter the details once more. |
| The cable is plugged in, but the setup card appears | There is no internet behind the network socket. | Check the socket and the router, then unplug the player and plug it back in. |
| The setup card appears although Wi-Fi is set up | The router wasn't ready when the player started. | Wait. The player keeps trying and restarts by itself if needed. |
| Verbindung fehlgeschlagen (connection failed) on the setup page | The password or the security type doesn't match. | Check the password. Under Sicherheit (security), keep WPA2-Personal (typisch) unless your router uses WPA3. |
| Schedules switch at the wrong time | The player's clock isn't synchronized, and the portal reports Clock out of sync. | Allow NTP in your network, see Network requirements for your IT. |
