# Work with Canva, PowerPoint, and Google Slides

Design in the tool you know, export the result as images, a video, or a PDF, and upload it to **Media**. Szenera can't open Canva or PowerPoint files directly.

> **Type:** guide
> **For:** anyone who designs content outside Szenera
> **Prerequisite:** the Owner or Manager role, so you can upload media
> **Where in the portal:** **Media**

## Steps

### 1. Set the right size

Before you start, set the page size to the format of your display: 16:9 (1920 × 1080 pixels) for a landscape TV, 9:16 (1080 × 1920 pixels) for a TV mounted upright. PowerPoint and Google Slides use 16:9 by default. In Canva, start a design in 1920 × 1080 pixels.

### 2. Export your design

| Tool | What to export | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Canva | Images (PNG or JPG), a video (MP4), or a PDF with several pages | Share › Download, then choose the file type. |
| PowerPoint | Each slide as an image (PNG), the whole presentation as a video (MP4), or a PDF | File › Export, then choose the file type or "Create a Video". |
| Google Slides | A PDF with all slides, or the current slide as an image (PNG) | File › Download, then PDF or PNG. |

Animations and slide transitions only survive in a video. Images and PDF pages are still.

### 3. Upload and show it

1. Open **Media** and drag the files onto the page, or click **Upload**.
2. Show them on a display: assign a single image or video directly to the display, let several images take turns in a playlist, or place a PDF in a scene with the Document widget.

> **Tip:** Put the exported slides in a folder and create a playlist with the source **Folder**. Every file you add to the folder then appears on the display automatically. See [Fill a playlist automatically from a folder or tags](/programs/automatic-playlists).

## Check the result

The files appear in **Media** with the status **Ready**. Check them on the real display, from where your customers will see them.

## If something goes wrong

| Symptom | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| The upload is rejected | The file type isn't supported, for example a PowerPoint or GIF file. | Export as PNG, JPG, MP4, or PDF instead. |
| Black bars around the slide | The page size doesn't match the display. | Change the page size to 16:9 or 9:16 and export again. |
| Text looks blurry | The image was exported at a low resolution. | Export at 1920 × 1080 pixels or more. |
| A change in your presentation doesn't appear | Szenera shows the exported file, not the original. | Export and upload again, then swap the file in the playlist or scene. |
