# Uninstall an app

Uninstalling removes an app and its widgets from every scene. Before you confirm, the portal shows which scenes are affected. The app's own data stays, so a new installation picks up where you left off, unless you delete it for good.

> **Type:** guide
> **For:** the Owner
> **Prerequisite:** an installed app
> **Where in the portal:** **Apps** › **My apps** › app › **Settings** › **Remove app**

## Steps

### Uninstall the app

1. Open the app's page, switch to **Settings**, and click **Uninstall app** under **Remove app**.
2. Check the dialog. It lists the scenes whose widgets disappear and says what happens to the app's data. For a booked add-on, it also says when the booking ends.
3. Click **Uninstall**. The portal reports **App uninstalled**.

> **Caution:** Where a widget was, the scene now has a gap. Open the scenes listed in the dialog, fill the space, and publish them again.

### Delete the app's data for good

The data of an uninstalled app stays for a new installation. If you no longer need it:

1. Open the app's listing under **Apps** › **Discover apps**. After uninstalling, the portal takes you there.
2. Under **Your data for this app**, click **Delete app data for good**.
3. Check what is deleted and click **Schedule deletion**.

The data is deleted 30 days later. Until then, **Cancel deletion** brings it back, and installing the app again also cancels the deletion.

## What stays and what goes

| What | After uninstalling |
|---|---|
| The app's widgets in scenes | Removed. The scenes themselves stay. |
| The app's app contents in the library | Stay, with the notice **App not installed**. They don't play on displays until you install the app again. The dialog doesn't list them. |
| The app's data, such as menus or duty rosters | Kept, until you schedule the deletion |
| A booked add-on | Runs until the end of the period, without a refund for the rest |
| What **OneDrive** or **Video wall** unlock | Stays. Imported files and existing video walls remain, but you can't add new ones. |

## Check the result

The app is gone from **My apps**, and its widgets are missing from the scene editor palette.

## If something goes wrong

| Symptom | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| **Uninstall app** is grayed out | Only the Owner may uninstall. | Ask the Owner. |
| “The impact could not be determined.” | The list of affected scenes couldn't be loaded, so **Uninstall** stays locked. | Close the dialog, reload the page, and try again. |
| A scene shows an empty space | A widget of the app was there. | Fill the space in the scene editor and publish the scene. |
| **Your data for this app** is missing | The app keeps no data, or its data areas are empty. | Nothing to do. |
